The pundits and the talking heads on CNBC and the media are telling you to invest in the stock market, in gold, or in commodities. If you are retired or if you are about to retire, can you afford to lose any money whatsoever? I don’t think so.
So where can you put your money where it will generate an income for you and be safe? My answer to that is a simple one: a fixed annuity.
What is an annuity? An annuity is a contract between you and an insurance company, under which you make a lump-sum payment or a series of payments. In return, the insurance company agrees to make periodic payments to you immediately or at some future date.
Now here is the wonderful news. What if you wanted to generate income for 10 years and at the end of the 10 years have every penny of the initial payment outlay returned to you?
It can be done with safety and peace of mind. You can do what is called a split annuity strategy. It is conservative, safe, without any risk and you can sleep at night.
Can you make more money in other investments? I’m sure you can if you have an appetite for risky investments, but I am talking about retired people who cannot afford the loss of their money.
